New Juice Café Helps Students Kwench Their Thirst

Chattanooga’s newest local juice shop, Kwench Juice Café, is offering locally sourced and healthy options to the downtown area.

Kwench is located at 321 Market Street and opened on March 22. It offers raw juices, smoothies, bowls, and more fresh options.

Keith Fletcher, co-owner of Kwench, is from South Georgia and said that he and his wife, Eva, decided to open their own juice shop after they fell in love with Chattanooga on a whim.

“We were looking to move to Knoxville, but we drove through Chattanooga and fell in love with it,” Fletcher said. “I opened the juice bar because I wanted to start my own business and I wanted to live healthier.”

After battling cancer in the past, Fletcher is passionate about living a healthy lifestyle. Kwench’s juices, smoothies, and everything in between are made with all-natural and plant-based ingredients.

“We are different from other places because they use powders and artificial sugars. We are all-natural,” Fletcher said. “It’s all made right in front of you, so people can see what’s going into their drinks. We don’t use any added sugars or syrups. We have tons of different superfruits goji berries, spirulina, and more. That’s how we set ourselves apart.”

Fletcher said that he sources everything as locally as possible and that Kwench does not use any animal products, besides honey.

“We have cold brew and hot coffee from Velo, honey from Wild Valley Honey, and kombucha on tap from Blue Indian Kombucha,” he said.

Josie Hickman, a University of Tennessee at Chattanooga senior majoring in Exercise Science, said that she is excited to have healthy alternatives near campus.

“I love making green smoothies and Kwench makes them right in front of you,” Hickman said. “I love how Kwench uses all-natural ingredients. Plus, it’s so close to campus and very convenient.”

Along with their many nourishing menu items, Kwench also has a bright and inviting atmosphere. Complete with comfy seating, vibrantly colored walls, and a mural painted by a local artist, Kwench is a great place to study or hang out with friends. Fletcher also said that the barn door connecting Kwench with SportsBarn will be open soon, once COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.
