SGA Report 10/11/12

Members of SGA voted to allot $8,000 for the Campus Activity Board, Tuesday in their weekly meeting. The funds will be to create a diverse programming schedule. CAB meets at 3:30 p.m. in the Heritage Room, and meetings are open to the public.

The Student Body Project Committee submitted a resolution to SGA asking that $5,000 be given to support the UTC Baja Team which, is a program in the engineering department where students build their own mini baja vehicle that will be used to compete against other colleges. SGA members  voted to approve the resolution.

Matt Wayne, a South Pittsburg senior, sponsored several bills to fund giveaways at the Oct. 27 football game and the basketball team’s Blue and Gold Game. SGA members approved the purchase of 300 key chains at $600, 500 koozies at $400, and 250 cups at $200.

The academic affairs committee sponsored a resolution that would provide $430 for tutor appreciation. Members of SGA approved the resolution.

SGA President Bradley Bell, a Knoxville senior, sponsored two resolutions that serve to honor former chancellor Robert Brown and his late wife Carolyn Thompson. The first was to create an award that will be given to faculty members who are invested in student life each year. The second would allow the new student park currently under construction to be named the Brown Thompson Student Park. Members of SGA voted in favor of both resolutions.
