For the first three weekends of December, the Chattanooga Zoo will present its annual holiday event, Holiday Lights.
Each weekend evening from 5:30-8 p.m., the zoo will transform into a winter wonderland of lights for guests of all ages to experience.
“Holiday Lights is a great night time event to share with friends and family, or to enjoy for a date night,” said Hannah Hammon, director of marketing and communications. “It is magical to see the zoo transformed, to watch as our animals enjoy their enrichment, and to enjoy a delicious sweet treat.”
Throughout the Holiday Lights event, animals at the zoo will receive holiday themed enrichment, ranging from food or scents to toys; an exact schedule will be available for guests upon arrival, according to Hammon.
Also featured at the event will be a nightly appearance from Santa in the Zoo’s Warner Family Education Center where guests will also be able decorate cookies and write letters to Santa.
“I am always looking for new adventures in Chattanooga that can happen on a college budget,” said Bethany Fox, a sophomore from Maryville. “I’ve heard about how neat the Chattanooga Zoo is, and what awesome things they do to help animals, but haven’t had the chance to visit yet. After hearing about this lights events, though, I will finally get to experience the local zoo and get some holiday joy.”
The Chattanooga Zoo is a non-profit organization which provides animal care and wildlife rehabilitation, conservation efforts and education for thousands of children yearly—all through the support from the community.
All activities are included in the price of admission, excluding photos with Santa which begin at $7. Admission is the same as regular Zoo admission, with adults being $9.95 each, children two and up $6.95, and free admission for children under the age of three. All Zoo Members receive 50% off.
