By Miles McNulty, Chattanooga, Tenn., Both the Chattanooga men and women’s golf teams have
upcoming tournaments on the road.
The women’s golf team heads to South Carolina for the Kiawah Island Classic March 2., and they began with their first round Sunday, and will end Tuesday.
They are coming into the weekend with confidence after a competitive Central District Invitational.
“I know that we are working hard,” head coach Collette Murray said. “I know this team is going to get better and better as the spring progresses.”
The Mocs finished 10th in the invitational that included ranked teams Vanderbilt at No.14, UCF at No.21 and Michigan State at No. 20.
The men’s golf team is gearing up to travel out of the country to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico for the Querencia Cabo Collegiate, which also begins March.2 at Querencia Golf Club. The Mocs tee time is scheduled for 11 a.m. Eastern Time and they the tournament will last until Tuesday.
Chattanooga will compete against large schools which including six from the SEC. Vanderbilt, Alabama, LSU, Mississippi, Kentucky, and Arkansas are all expected to be there. The 14-team tournament will be hosted by Southern Methodist University.
They finished 7th team last week at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate in Alabama.
Senior Davis Bunn, Knoxville tied for 11th and shot an overall of one under par the previous week.
“I really challenged Davis Bunn heading into the spring and he responded missing the top 10 by one,” head coach Mark Guhne said to gomocs.com. “He just didn’t get enough help.”
