The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Women’s soccer team hosted the Alabama Crimson Tide on Sunday.
The game ended in a tie, but the Mocs were able to perform and show a lot of strengths throughout the match. The play that led to the only Mocs goal was well structured, and exciting to see come together. Freshman player AK Anderson, Knoxville, Tenn., quickly pushed the ball down the right side and passed inside to Bailey Gale, Knoxville, Tenn., who snapped the ball to Sophomore Samantha Shaw, Columbia, S.C., who scored her second goal of the season.
“The goal was excellent,” UTC head coach Gavin McKinney said. “Sam got on the end of it. The second goal for her in three games.”
Alabama had carried the lead for 20 minutes before the Mocs tied up the game in the 78th minute.
The Mocs were outshot in the game 16-4, but neither team found much success finding the net. Abbey Saddler was able to make all three of her saves in overtime.
Chattanooga improves to 3-1-2 on the season and the Tide move to 3-2-1.
