Blue and Gold Preview Day brings in prospective students for a fun-filled day at UTC.

The entire event tends to last around three-and-half hours and involves tours and activities for students to get a feel of all the fun that UTC has to offer.

Prospective students could check-in from 9 to 10 in the morning on Saturday, Nov. 9. During this time, there were organizational showcases, campus tours in the ARC and continental breakfast.

From 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., UTC hosted many fun and informational events such as an academic department fair in the UC as well as information sessions in various locations on campus.

Visitors had the chance of choosing between a blue route or a gold route when touring the campus. There were stops at many of the main buildings around campus with orientation leaders and tour guides to inform students about interesting facts of each location.

Racheal Crass, junior at UTC, is a tour guide who spoke about Holt Hall, Grote Hall and the UTC bookstore.

“My favorite part is being able to interact with so many people, especially in such a short amount of time,” said Crass.

Each tour guide was designated to one area, and their jobs were to ensure that students got a personal experience with each stop as groups moved throughout campus.

They talked about the building in which they were surrounded and answered any questions that prospective students or their families had about UTC.

“It’s a lot of fun whenever you’re on campus as students come up to you and say, ‘Hey, you were my tour guide, and you’re the reason why I chose UT Chattanooga,’” said Crass.

Crass said that it touches her heart and feels blessed with the opportunity to be a tour guide on campus.

After the tours of the main buildings all across campus, prospective students also had an optional opportunity to participate in the residential hall open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Within a few hours, visitors got to fully experience all the main buildings and locations, and they also learn about the main organizations and offices that UTC has for students.
