Chattanooga, Tenn.,–The 50-plus game Southern Conference winning streak was in doubt Saturday for the women’s basketball team, but a dominant performance in the paint helped the Mocs overcome UNCG 72-61.

The winning streak for UTC is now at 52-games and Saturday’s  win also marked the Mocs’ fifth-straight win since their loss at Stanford on Dec. 28.

Queen Alford, Decatur, Ga., led Chattanooga in scoring for the second game in a row. The red-shirt junior totaled 20 points in 28 minutes. Jasmine Joyner, Southaven Miss., was right behind her with 18 points and 14 rebounds and four assists.

Sister’s Keiana and Aryanna Gilbert, Pulaski, Tenn., also scored in the double-digits with 14 and 12 points respectively.

Next up for Coach Jim Foster’s Mocs is a road trip to Mercer next Thursday Jan. 21. Tip-off is set for 7p.m.
