Up ’til Dawn is a student led organization that lives in universities across the nation, each with one goal: to raise money for sick children in St. Jude Children’s hospitals nationwide.

St. Jude Children’s hospitals allow children to get the medical attention they deserve, while families never have to worry about paying a bill. This is all done through donations and non-profit organizations, such as Up ’til Dawn.

Every student is welcome to get involved with the Up ’til Dawn community at UTC and help fundraise throughout the year. The registration process includes creating a fundraising profile, independently or with a group, at www.fundraising.stjude.org/utc.

This profile produces a link for students to share on their social media, with friends or family, or donate themselves. The link enables anyone with access to donate directly to St. Jude through UTC’s program.

Fundraising goes from August until March. On March 1st, the group has a special event from midnight to dawn to celebrate the fundraising success of the year.

They have friendly competition with various games and reveal the amount of money UTC collectively raised over the year.

During the big celebration at the end of the year, Up ’til Dawn puts on many different
fundraising events throughout the year, each with a purpose.

“Everything we do ties back to the mission or what happens in operations daily at St. Jude,” Haley Schlegel, Executive Director of Up ’til Dawn said.

This includes two national recruitment days next week, as well as multiple upcoming events in the works throughout the year. All of which allow students the opportunity to learn about the program, while engaging in fun, helpful activities.

On Tuesday, September 25, there will be a “Kisses for a Cure” puppy photobooth at Heritage Plaza to promote a positive atmosphere and introduce a relaxed environment to talk about Up ’til Dawn. On Wednesday, September 26 there will be “Carnival for a Cure” on Chamberlain field from 5 p.m.-8 p.m.

Students who are interested in the organization are also encouraged to follow Up ’til Dawn on all social media networks @UTCUPTILDAWN or contact Haley Schlegel for further information at qbj986@mocs.utc.edu.
