Last Thursday, the Tennessee Aquarium hosted a Trivia Night, a unique Aquarium “AfterHours” event by popular trivia host Eddie Bridges.

Trivia Night consisted of about twenty teams with 10 people per team and 4 rounds with 8 questions per round. Teams could even arrive early and tour the River Journey to get hints and clues for Trivia Night.

Aquarium Education Department staff Rebecca Chastain has worked at the aquarium since 2007 and now works full time with the Aquarium’s Education Department, working closely with the homeschool days along with working on underwater robotics and preparing teachers to start underwater robotic teams. She has seen the aquarium grow and change through the years into what it is today.

She explains that “Trivia happens around town… we thought people would be really excited about it. It was a way to allow people to enjoy the aquarium after dark and enjoy a beverage of their choice, and it’s just a lot of fun.”

Further, “[Trivia Night] allows us to diversify our educational experiences… giving a new group of people the opportunity to enjoy the aquarium,” Chastain said.

According to Chastain, everyone can look forward to more successful events like this one in the future.

“We are excited for the next one; it’s going to be pertaining to the opening of our Island Life exhibit which opens in March,” she notes. “We are excited that this event will be people’s introduction to our new exhibit” Chastain said.

Additionally, UTC students and faculty are will receive a 50% discount on admission for the month of February. This includes the aquarium and IMAX movies.

“You just have to bring a student ID or transcript that shows that you are enrolled currently,” Chastain notes.

With this in mind, perhaps head to the Tennessee Aquarium and check out the current and upcoming events and discounts. They certainly have something for everyone!
