Staff Report, Chattanooga, Tenn.— UTC squeaks into Best Value School’s top 20 colleges with the best education and experience for money spent at 19th place.
Colleges were ranked in October using information from the National Center for Educational Statistics’ College Navigator. Variables used to determine ranking include net price, acceptance rate, graduation rate and 20-year net return on investment.
UTC received a score of 89.96 out of the 200 point scale used by Best Value Colleges, just passing Tennessee Wesleyan College at 89.76 points.
UTC’s business program, which was listed as one of BusinessWeek’s list of top 100 programs in the nation and has a return on investment value of $249,000, was specifically mentioned in the report and may be a key factor in the ranking.
Also mentioned is the University’s wide range of undergraduate majors and high percentage of students receiving financial aid.
The number one best valued school is Vanderbilt University which scored 161.7 points. Vanderbilt was followed by Middle Tennessee State University at 141.8 points and Johnson University at 126.04 points.
