UTC is now one of the hotspots for a new program called Rural Schools Collaborative, according to a press release on Feb 9, 2023.
This program originated in Illinois but has now made its way to Chattanooga to enhance learning in grades K-12 with teacher, parent and student interaction.
According to a Press Release by UTC News, RSC is, “comprised of a series of regional hubs across the country, designed to allow the organization and its partners to share stories and information; work together on programs and projects; explore funding opportunities to support rural schools; and network and collaborate with other organizations and schools both within specific regions and at other hubs across the country.”
Dr. Allen Pratt is the new interim co-director associated with the UTC Education department and will now serve as the contact for this program in the Appalachia Hub area.
The press release also explained that this program will be able to tie in the city life of Chattanooga with rural surrounding areas in the state. It’s an opportunity for schools to grow and for UTC to get involved with surrounding programs in the education department.
UTC will join other Universities like Morehead State and Virginia Tech in this collaboration for a new outlook on education.
