The beloved Chattanooga Lookouts return to AT&T Field today, April 11, against the Mississippi Braves in the first home series of the season.
The series against the Atlanta Braves’ double-A affiliate will run through the weekend with different game day events planned. Most notably are Chick-Fil-A giveaway on Wednesday, the return of Thirsty Thursday, and fireworks following Friday’s ballgame.
The Lookouts currently hold a 2-1 record following their opening series against the Rocket City Trash Pandas, and Chattanooga has already made it into the headlines of ESPN and CBS Sports. On April 8, the Trash Pandas threw a no-hitter against the Lookouts, but still lost. Through a culmination of walks, hit-by-pitch, and errors, the Lookouts posted a seven-run game (7-5 final) to clinch the series win over Rocket City.
Another note is that this opening day for AT&T Field will possibly be its second-to-last. The multiuse stadium of the future for the Lookouts is underway where Wheland Foundry is along the Tennessee Riverpark. The new stadium is closer to St. Elmo-side of Chattanooga and will have a capacity ranging from 6,000 to 9,000. Restaurants, retail storefronts, office spaces, and housing will surround the new development that will encompass 120 acres of Chattanooga’s Southside.
If you are unable to make it to the Lookouts’ opening day, then no need to worry. You can watch it from your home with MiLB.TV or listen to 98.1 The Lake for live coverage. The next home series for Chattanooga will be at the end of the month (April 25-30) against the Rocket City Trash Pandas.
